Ramp up for an Inclusive Life

As part of the project, we constructed a ramp and renovated the toilet facilities at one of the High School located in the northern region of Tajikistan. The initiative began with conducting the needs assessment at the school, where we identified key accessibility challenges faced by students with disabilities.

Understanding the importance of inclusive education, we prioritized the construction of ramps and the renovation of toilet facilities to ensure they were accessible to all students. These improvements were essential to support children with disabilities who attend the school, helping to remove physical barriers and promote equal participation in the learning environment.

The school community played an active role in the project. The school principal and several teachers took part in a training on Inclusive Education conducted by DRJ. Following the training, they gained understanding of the importance of creating an accessible and inclusive school environment. Their involvement extended beyond the training, as they took on responsibilities and actively contributed to the implementation of the project.

In addition, members of the community: parents, staff, and local donors were also engaged in the process, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. Their support in the construction of the ramp and renovation of the toilet facilities reflects a shared commitment to promote an inclusive learning space where all children, regardless of their physical abilities, can attend classes, learn, and interact with their peers with dignity and equality.

This initiative not only improved the school’s infrastructure but also helped build awareness and advocate for inclusive values within the community. By working together, we are taking meaningful steps toward creating a barrier-free and supportive environment for every child.
