On August 16, 2011, in the Cortázar room of the National Library, Canales Asociación Civil will present Virtual Videobooks in Argentinean Sign Language (ASL), a website where the videos of 15 children's books will be read in Argentinean Sign Language by deaf readers and will be free to download.
These videobooks were intended to make children's literature accessible to everyone. Therefore, the books are filmed by deaf in ASL and also include voice-overs. In these set of photos attached we see people who are recording the voices for deaf children to share books with their hearing parents, their teachers and their hearing peers. Each deaf reader’s voice was done by a different hearing person. In the same way, deaf children's voices were done by hearing kids.
These are the first videos that we publish but we will continue to upload new ones!
Everyone is invited to join us, however reservations are required by emailing info@canales.org.ar since the capacity of the auditorium is limited.
