Donations to our Global Giving campaign have matched other funding proposals and allowed us to address community needs regarding home restoration. We have focused primarily in addressing the needs of residents of Punta Santiago, but have also supported neighboring communities and municipalities, contributing to their recovery from the long-lasting impact of Hurricane Maria. From June 2019 through August 2019, construction materials were distributed to 4 families:
The construction materials donated included windows, doors, paint, roof treatment, tiles, cement, blocks, construction rods, zinc panels and other materials. Additionally, some families were also provided with home appliances, like a stove.
The Community Sustainability Center fosters an integral approach to supplying the needs to participants by involving the families in quoting construction materials for their homes, thereby encouraging inclusion, independence, responsibility and ownership. Working together has expedited the process of meeting the needs of the participants. Here are some pictures of the homes in process of restoration.
Thanks again for your contribution to this campaign. We continue to work swiftly to help more families as hurricane season is on its peak.
