Rebuild a Secondary School for 250 Kids in Nepal

Hello, Namaste and Happy Nepali New Year to all of the beautiful people supporting Aura Freedom and this project!

We are excited to share the progress of construction on the Shree Bhumimata school.

Just this past month, the first floor slab casting of the school was completed.

So, what does that mean?

It means that the classroom walls can now be erected and soon we will be able to see what our beloved school will look like in the near future. After the first floor is completed, construction on the second floor will begin.

We can just picture the children's art and books filling those walls and it fills our hearts to know that we are making this happen together. 

For the children of Shree Bhumimata, this means a lot. Already from disadvantaged families, education is key to preventing gender-based violence, child marriage, unemployment and unsafe migration, which can lead to human trafficking.

As many of you know, Aura Freedom works with survivors of human trafficking everyday, and just knowing that we are preventing the exploitation of more children through this school is enough to keep us going even when we aren't sure how we will pay the next bill.

Our country partners, Maiti Nepal and ASF Nepal, continue to work closely with us and the engineers/architects on the ground. Local men and women are being employed through this project, and the community as a whole will benefit for generations to come. 

We look forward to keeping you updated on this important work. After all, education is THE silver bullet to ending all forms of oppression, violence and abuse and achieveing gender equality.
