Another floor!

By Marissa Kokkoros | Project Leader

We are so excited to share with you what has been happening in Nepal in the last three months!

When we last caught up, the first floor of the Shree Bhumimata school was completed. Since then, our partners in Nepal have been hard at work to make sure this school is fit for boys and girls to participate in a great learning environment.

Under the guidance of our local partners, Maiti Nepal and ASF Nepal, local construction companies have assembled the steel pillars for the second floor of the school. This is being done so that the walls can be built for the second floor and bring us one step closer to bringing in the students.

A staircase and ramp have also been constructed and are also being finished now.

More materials have been purchased locally to facilitate construction, including fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, cement, reinforcement bars, formworks, and bricks.

Because of your generous donations, the Shree Bhumimata school is closer to being completed. Your contribution means that children from disadvantaged families can gather to learn at a safe school that helps build the capacity of girls and boys equally.

Not only that, but local workers are being employed and that money is being put back into the community's economy. Together, we are promoting the capacity of the community and supporting sustainable change!

When you empower girls, you empower the community and we know that for years to come, children will be able to learn in an environment that supports their rights. We are excited to help promote a future that supports equality while combating violence, oppression, exploitation, and abuse by educating children.

We still have a long we to go and appreciate all your continued support in reaching our $50,000 objective. With your help, we can forever change the lives of children in Nepal!
