Hello Donors!

Since our last report, and the end of monsoon season, our teams in Nepal have been very busy! We mentioned that during our hiatus our teams planned, and were approved, to start work in the Sindhuli district where school rebuilds are coming along smoothly. Three months into this work, we are ready to share with you what we have been up to! Our team is currently working on two full school rebuilds, four WaSH stations, as well as a partial rebuild on a small school site that sustained minor damage. These WaSH stations (which refer to designated water, sanitation, and heygeine stations), are fundamental for the safe development of children as they learn good hygienic practices and are provided with a clean and consistent water source. WaSH installations are currently being installed, or improved, at each rebuild site.

Work has begun at Shree Ma Vi school, which before the 2015 earthquakes functioned as a 14 room building serving ECD through grade 10. Most of the building was severely damaged, leaving students with 5 structurally unsafe classrooms. Our teams will rebuild and repair existing classroom damage here, and build a new playground and retaining wall so 190 students can return to a safe and functional learning space where they can prosper.

Teams are also working hard at Saraswati School, which serves students ECD through grade 8. Saraswati had 9 rooms, also experiencing a high degree of structural damage. Teams are currently working on rebuilding the three structurally damaged classrooms, and retrofitting two others. This work will help 195 students and 7 staff return to their school!

Finally, our teams are working at Shree Uccha Ma Vi school where the impact will be truly amazing! This school, which serves ECD through 12th grade (including an additional college), will support the development and learning of 350 students when completed. Here, our teams will continue their progress with the rebuild, as well as the installation of a new water source to support the entire school.

Our teams are working tirelessly for one primary reason: sustainability. When we rebuild homes and schools, we do everything we can to make sure these structures are built to last. Our schools are built with reinforced footings and beams, helping them stand strong even in the face of possible future quakes. Our compassionate teams are committed to providing sustainably safe classrooms, restrooms, and clean drinking water to as many students as possible. The work we are doing in Sindhuli alone will assist 735 students return to the joy of learning. So much of this work is possible because of you, the generous supporters of All Hands and Hearts and Globalgiving!

As always, thank you for your unwavering support for the work we do. You help change lives every day!
