Hello again!
It’s hard to believe that 3 months have already gone by since our last report - monsoon season has passed and our teams have spent the past two weeks preparing the base for incoming volunteers. Times like this are such an exciting time for our staff and volunteers in Nepal. They are returning refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges that come with rebuilding schools in remote and rural locations. Even more exciting is that in less than 6 months, a brand new school will be ready for students to use again safely.
As we speak, our team is preparing to begin work in the Makwanpur district of Nepal, an area southwest of Kathmandu. The first school where our team will work is Shree Manakamana Basic School. According to our assessment team, the school serves ECD to grade 8 with 140 children enrolled, and 11 staff. Before the 2015 earthquakes, Shree Manakamana Basic School had 13 classrooms in total including 4 support rooms. The school received no help from the government - the school has desperately needed repairs for four years, and we are so excited to get started.
Our work queue will grow a bit more over the next few months as we begin working on another two schools in November. We are also excited to begin another round of our Female Masons Training Program. These incredible women will help us rebuild the schools that will benefit so many children in their community, and we can’t wait to share with you our progress in our next update.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our work in Nepal - it’s so nice to have you on our team!
