Hello donors!
Monsoon season in Nepal has ended which allows us to get right back to work helping communities in need following the 2015 Nepal Earthquake disaster. As mentioned in our last report, we have completed eight school rebuilds in the past two years, allowing thousands of children to return to school and benefitting students for years to come.
We have just started to welcome volunteers back to Nepal to work on our two newest school rebuilds in the Sindhupalchowk district. We will be working to rebuild the Nibiguan Basic School and the Kalikasaran Basic School. Over 300 students were enrolled in these schools before the earthquake but attendance has dropped dramatically due to various factors. Students are currently learning in cramped, unsafe Temporary Learning Centers located a considerable distance from the original schools. Attached are photographs taken by our team during the assessment phase of the conditions that students and teachers are dealing with right now. Attendance is expected to increase once the buildings are rebuilt and students are able to return to a safe learning space.
Once finished, the Kalikasaran and Nibiguan schools will have eight earthquake resilient classrooms designed to be safe and secure for the young students in attendance. We thank you for your continued support and ask you to stay up to date with this program and all of our other programs around the world.
Thanks!
