We are addressing the severe humanitarian crisis caused by the violence in Nord Kivu, DRC, which has displaced over 42,600 people in Masisi and Nyiragongo. Our project focuses on rebuilding essential infrastructure, providing clean water, and offering food security to the displaced. We aim to ensure safe, voluntary, and dignified returns for these vulnerable communities.
After Goma was taken by rebels, over 42,600 displaced people fled to Masisi and Nyiragongo. These families are now returning to devastated areas where infrastructures have been destroyed, schools are closed, and access to clean water is minimal. Despite their return, 60% of those displaced still remain in Goma. These people face enormous hardships, including food insecurity and lack of essential services.
Through a multifaceted approach, we will work with local partners and humanitarian organizations to restore the essential infrastructure in Masisi and Nyiragongo. We will install water purification systems, rebuild schools, and provide food distribution. Additionally, we will conduct assessments to verify that the return of the displaced people is voluntary and safe, ensuring they can reintegrate into their communities with dignity
This project aims to create a sustainable future for the displaced people of Nord Kivu. By rebuilding essential infrastructure and providing access to clean water and education, we will help families overcome the immediate effects of the crisis and establish long-term stability. This project will also contribute to peace and reconciliation by helping communities rebuild and heal from the trauma of violence and displacement.
