Rebuilding in Valencia After the DANA

During this last month, we remain committed to the recovery of families affected by the floods of last October 29 in the Valencian Community, with special attention to the towns of Algemesí, Aldaia, Catarroja, Paiporta, Sedaví and Alfafar.

We are currently in Phase 2 of our support work, focused on the reconstruction of the homes of the most vulnerable families and on the care of the elderly, many of whom have no insurance or support network.

Thanks to several collaborations such as yours, we have been able to purchase household appliances and household goods, such as furniture, bedding and towels, helping to improve the living conditions of those affected. To date, a total of 200 families have received direct assistance through these resources. Considering that the average number of members per family is four people, the total impact of our work has benefited more than 800 people. The main items we have delivered to people who have lost everything were refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, microwaves, mattresses, sheets, pillows and other basic necessities. In addition, in this phase we are also providing assistance to families through the delivery of staple foods, cleaning products, warm clothes and support in transfers.

In the municipality of Algemesí, one of the infrastructures most affected by the floods was the Alzheimer's Day Center. We are collaborating in the repair of the infrastructure, replacement of equipment (furniture, medical equipment, materials for daily use) and improvement of accessibility and safety. Currently, other facilities are being used to care for the patients while this work is being carried out under an emergency contract. We hope to be able to return to the center in 3 months. The center attends 70 patients daily, so the impact, both directly and indirectly on their families, is very important for this town.
