Two years after the earthquake, one year after the school was handed over, the gym in Arquata del Tronto was inaugurated on 19th Spetember 2018, a gift from the 16500 readers of the newspaper "La Stampa" which completed the fully equipped gym in a record time of 110 days: an area of 500 square
meters with a basketball court, a soccer field, volleyball nets and all the tools for physical education classes. "A safe place to play and grow together, thanks to the support from all over the world" explained the president of Specchio dei tempi foundation during the ceremony. The sports facility is located next to the area which hosts the maternal, primary and secondary schools since last September. The two structures, projected by "Buildings" studio from Turin, and built by Wolf Haus, a South Tyrolean company leader in earthquake-proof construction, are compatible and tested to withstand any shock. The total amount of the two interventions cost more than 3.7 million euros.
Another great goal accomplished to help the population hardly affected by the 2016 earthquake. Specchio dei tempi continues to support Arquata del Tronto and it's still possible to continue funding our project: there is still a lot of work to do!
