Reconstruction of the school: first phase complete

One year ago, Arquata del Tronto and its inhabitants were overwhelmed by a very strong earthquake. Almost all homes and buildings were destroyed or heavily damaged. The dead were so many, too many.

The city did not exist anymore, and the daily life of its inhabitants was disrupted: home, work, family, school, leisure, ...

How to give a concrete answer?

Specchio dei tempi has decided to build a new school. A place where future generations can play, study, become adults in safety and serenity.

Thanks to your help, a part of the school is already finished and, from September 2017, 150 students and children have classrooms, services, a computer room, a library, a canteen in a new, eco-compatible and anti-seismic structure.

The construction, after removing the rubble, took place quickly since April 2017 and did not find any particular problems. All the furniture and equipment needed to make school usable were also provided or donated.

The schools will last in time and will be used by future generations as well.

Today the students will be able to attend a full and normal school life in their municipality of residence; even teachers and school employees can return to work in the town.

The population now begins to return to normal life. All this was possible thanks to a collective gift, with donations from all over the world.

The new goal, to continue giving serenity to Arquata, is to rebuild the gym of the school.
