We are pleased to share the progress achieved through your generous support during the fifth round of the Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) distribution. This reporting period has seen substantial improvements in child nutrition outcomes and strengthened community engagement.

A total of 1,205 children suffering from moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) received treatment, achieving an impressive 96% recovery rate. In addition, 115 children recently discharged from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) treatment at the local health clinics benefited from RUSF support to help prevent relapse and maintain their recovery.

During September, community screenings identified 1,093 children with acute malnutrition, including 942 MAM cases, underscoring the continued importance of proactive detection and response efforts. To further promote healthy practices, three Social Behaviour Change (SBC) sessions were conducted on vaccinations, antenatal care, and handwashing, empowering caregivers with essential health knowledge.

The program also carried out two rounds of Positive Deviance (PD) household visits and focus groups with participating mothers, reinforcing local caregiving and feeding skills learned during PD workshops. These initiatives are strengthening family resilience and promoting sustainable behavior change.

To enhance field coordination and beneficiary monitoring, three additional Senior Community Liaison Officers were recruited during the period.

Key achievements include:

  • 25,555 children aged 6–59 months screened for malnutrition
  • 22 local health clinic staff trained on the updated national malnutrition protocol
  • A successful World Breastfeeding Week campaign held in Ankaramena, promoting exclusive breastfeeding practices

These accomplishments were made possible through your continued partnership and support. Your contribution remains vital in helping us reach vulnerable children and families with life-saving nutrition services. Thank you for standing with us in our efforts to ensure recovery and resilience in Anosy Madagascar
