We are pleased to share with you the most recent achievements of a very special project we developed in Eastern Puerto Rico: the Whole Community Resilience Planning Program, funded by CDBG-DR funds and administered by the Puerto Rico Department of Housing.
Thanks to this effort, ten communities now have officially approved Community Resilience Plans, validated by the Department of Housing as meeting the required standards. These plans not only guide their development and preparedness for future emergencies, but also reflect the voices, priorities, and dreams of their residents. Over the past months, more than 234 community meetingswere held with the participation of over 2,100 people.
The closing of this stage was deeply meaningful. Each assembly, each conversation, and each story shared planted trust. We witnessed how communities organized themselves, how leaders emerged with strength, and how entire families recognized themselves as protagonists in the transformation of their surroundings.
Beyond the numbers, the true impact lies in the human dimension:
Although this specific project was supported by government funds, what we learned and accomplished leaves us with a great responsibility: to continue strengthening our communities beyond externally funded projects. And this is where your support as donors through GlobalGiving becomes essential. Your contributions allow us to dream of expanding these efforts, replicating them in other communities, and ensuring continuity for what has already begun.
Today we can affirm that resilience is not only about infrastructure or written plans, but about people united, proactive, and filled with purpose and hope. With your help, we will continue accompanying communities and families on their journey toward a more just and caring future.
Thank you for walking alongside us. You are an essential part of this movement of transformation.
