Students Need Exercise Too to be Healthy

By Chris Coats | Executive Director

I'm sure we can all think back to the days where we ran around, climbed, teeter-tottered, and played on the various equipment at our school or public park. But playgrounds offer much more than just a good time.

A study done by Shape America reports on the importance for students to have physical activity to increase the children's well-being. Physical activity enhances academic performance, increases cognitive function, improves mental and physical health, develops motor competence, and fosters relationships with others through group interaction.

Although this is a study conducted on students in America, students are students no matter where they live. Having time to play on a playground allows a child to express themselves, be creative, learn coordination and social awareness, and simply have fun. Children can learn many essential skills that are necessary to being healthy and successful.

Recently Trailblazer received a generous donation to purchase seven different playground equipment pieces for the Beng Primary School. This playground is the only full set of playground equipment in the entire district. Children from the surrounding villages also come to play on the equipment on the weekends.

It is very special to these students and other children to have a safe place to play, learn and grow. Thank you Dale for your wonderful gift that benefits, not only the Beng Primary School students in ways beyond their academic studies, but children from all around the community. merry-go-round, swing, slide, house, teeter-totter, a copule different climbing things I have no name for. It is the only FULL set playground in the district! Children from the surrounding villages come and play on it on the weekends. Wow, that is really special.  merry-go-round, swing, slide, house, teeter-totter, a copule different climbing things I have no name for. It is the only FULL set playground in the district!
