Dear donors,
In Nigeria, up to 40% of farm produce spoils before reaching markets due to heat, poor storage, and unreliable electricity. Farmers lose income, and communities face food shortages. This project will provide 50 solar-powered cold storage units to smallholder farmers, allowing fruits, vegetables, and grains to stay fresh for 7-21 days. Farmer groups will be trained to manage the units and safely store crops, reducing waste and extending market availability.
Initial donations have been received, but more support is needed to cover units, installation, and training. Your contribution will help farmers sell produce at fair prices, improve household nutrition, increase income, and strengthen local food security. With your support, rural communities can preserve more food and build sustainable agriculture systems.
