Get Redressed Month 2020
39% of Hong Kongers have thrown away good clothing after wearing it only once.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our annual Get Redressed Month campaign. Now in its third year, the campaign encourages everyone to reimagine their wardrobes by reviving, re-styling, re-wearing and recycling their clothes to make them last longer. With a small change to how we view our clothes, we can make a big difference in reducing fashion waste and the impact our wardrobes have on the environment.
Throughout October 2020, we’ll be running a series of activities across Hong Kong for companies, schools and individuals. Our signature events include our Get Redressed Clothing Drive, the Sort-a-thon CSR volunteering event and Get Redressed Days. We also have a School Activity Pack available to download on the website that provides more details about thecampaign for teachers and students.

Online Education
Looking for engaging content for young audiences? At Redress, we know that the past few months have been difficult, especially as there still appears to be no clear ending of lockdown measure in sight. As an NGO we have been looking at our current projects and strategies to see how we can best add value during this crisis. Our Circular Fashion Programme has recently been engaging with pupils in primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong around the issue of textile waste as part of our educational work.
We are pleased to bring a 15 minute version of our usual school talk online to both provide interesting content for schools and parents and enable us to continue to make impact through this project.
The presentation introduces students to the issue of textile waste, encourages them to reflect on their own fashion consumption, clothing use and disposal habits, and provides them with the knowledge and tools to take direct and positive action. Armed with this knowledge, students will have the power to change their behaviour as consumers, minimising carbon emissions, water use and waste in the long-term.
Finally, later this year, thanks to a grant from the Environmental Conservation Fund, we will be further developing our resources in time for the new school year, so please check back in August for those.
We will also be delivering a number of school talks as part of this grant so please get in touch to enquire about booking a virtual or in-person talk at circular@redress.com.hk.
Thank you!
All the donations we have received to date have enabled us to help kickstart our campaign and provide educational opportunities for students currently not in school. Your continued support enables us to continue to create meaningful impact and we thank you!
