It is with fantastic success that we completed another Get Redressed Month at the end of last year thanks to the loyal support of our partners and volunteers and the hard work of the Redress team.
Get Redressed Month encourages Hong Kongers to rethink their relationship with their wardrobes and donate their unwanted items across several locations to extend the life of their garments and to consider shopping secondhand.
More than 120 organizations joined the citywide clothing Drive, Hong Kong’s largest annual clothing collection initiative.
From there, Redress sifted through a 16-tonne mountain of clothing at our large-scale volunteer sorting event, the Sort-a-thon, with the help of 36 companies and 115 volunteers with
Guided by our environmental message to promote circularity in fashion and reduce clothing waste, the clothes that we collect are either sold in our secondhand permanent shop or pop-ups to raise critical funding for our programmes or have been:
- Redistrubited for reuse by Local Charities in Hong Kong
- Recycled or downcycled in partnership with third parties.
2023 will again be a challenging year, following COVID setbacks - please consider donating to us monthly to help us support the ongoing financial challenges of collecting and redistributing clothing waste. Simply click the ‘donate monthly’ tab on our page here to set this up - one off donations also welcomed!
A huge Thank you to all our donors, you make Redress' work possible.
Happy lunar new year !
