Refugee Charcoal Project was put on hold because of the war but can be implemented in other places which host forced migrants in DRC.
This project aimed at bringing together refugees in Goma and produce Charcoal which they sold in order to survive, however because of the war in both North Kivu and South Kivu in which refugees are the very first target by Rwandan Army, this project stopped and currently our interventions were reduced and others just changed the strategy in order to focus to individuals in their places of hiding.
Generally we are looking at emergencies in order to help those in critical situation in Goma like those who are sic, those hit by bullets and those affected by hunger.
Since the war reached Goma, we are not putting refugees together anymore because they can be killed or being forced to return to Rwanda, however the Charcoal project is still among our priorities and we shall work on it very soon when the war ends in North Kivu.
This Project of producing Charcoal can also be implemented in Kalemie and in other places which hosts refugees and Internally Displaced Persons but we do not have the necessary funding in order to do so.
We are working hard to raise money and implement this Project also in Kalemie in order to serve the same purpose for the affected communities. The main challenge as per is only the lack of funds in order to start.
