While our Charcoal Project was put to pose due to the lack of funding, it urgent to restart it in order to cover and solve the cooking problems in Kalemie.
While Kalemie hosts thousands of refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, there is also a high pressure being put on the forests and the general vegetation which are used in the construction of temporal shelter and in cooking.
On top of that various testimonies from women and young girls show that they are sexually abused when they go far to collect firewood and trees for the construction of their shelters.
This is why we need not only the Charcoal project but also teach people about constructions bricks which can replace the trees.
The Charcoal which everyone person can make from home should focus on training refugees and IDPs how to make it but also turn it into Income Generating Activity.
The Bricks also will help refugees and IDPs to get a better and more secure way to build their shelter and also an Income Generating Activity for others.
We really depend on you as always in order to carry out our activities, your generosity has helped us to extend these services to people we serve.
