Dear Friends,
Greetings!
We hope you are in good health.
While working in the communities for years, with the realization that the needs of the persons living with disabilities are unique and need special attention we initiated this project to support 1000 persons living with disabilities in Nepal.
In Himalayan, communities’ persons with disabilities are mostly confined to their homes with no access to basic assistive devices, physiotherapy services, and special health services for them.
Like here, Raju (Name changed) a 40 years old male from Kailali district used to be one of them, could move on his knees only, and confined in his house. He is a person who developed cerebral palsy due to illness at a young age. With regular physiotherapy sessions, he is now able to stand and walk with the support of a stick. As per his interest, he received support for setting up a grocery shop at his village to engage himself and support his family with some oncome. With the contribution from person like you, Raju has been able to motivate other persons with disabilities to have an optimistic life.
Your donation, any amount, will help us to get a bigger part of this effort. We request you to contribute for their special needs; assistive devices, skill training, support for initiating economic activities for improved livelihood, stationery support for students, and many more as per the need of individuals.
Recently, we organized a health camp at Soru Rural Municipality in Mugu district where 71 (41 male and 30 female) persons living with disabilities were certified by a medical officer for the disability identity cards. 21 of them are now eligible to get social security allowance from the local government and this will support to cover their living costs. We are assessing their needs of assistive devices for their mobility and enhanced access to health and other services.
For this, we appeal for your support. For now, we need your support for assistive devices and further support for involving them with skill training and starting economic activities of their interest.
Through this project, we aim for 1000 people living with disabilities like them who are in compelling need of basic health, physiotherapy, assistive services, and livelihood opportunities close to their homes. For this cause, we hope for your support to meet the special need of people living with disabilities in Nepal’s most remote communities.
Thank you
