A positive start to 2022 for our pangolin patients

Remember little Artie who we introduced you to back in late September? Well he has been growing from strenthg to strength over the past four months. Perfecting his skills at finding his favourite ants and landing on some big nests too! This is every pangolin rehabbers dream, as it enables him to eati his fill whilst using as little energy as possible because he doesn't have to travel to far to do it. He has now reached a startign day weight of 6kg meaning it is time to start looking for the perfect realease site, and get everything ready for him to begin his journy back to freedom.

One of the saddest story's since we last reported, was the return of Lily. Some of you may remember Lily, a pregnant female that was rehabilitated and released a little over a year ago. She was doing great at her release site, having had her baby she was seen mating again and living the best life a pangolin can. So naturally our hearts sank when we learnt she had been poached again and was held in the illegal trade for almost 2 weeks. In a collaborative effort Lily was rescued from her captors, but never have we received a pangolin that was so skinny before. Lily has always been a fighter and she needed to fight for her life harder now than ever before. Now a little over 4 months on Lily is still fighting. It has been an up and down journey as weakness, sickness, and a miscarriage has taken its toll on her but she is pushing on and not giving up! Keep Lily in your thoughts as we keep her fighting the good fight.

Including Artie and Lily, we have 4 pangolin patients in our care requiring daily feeding walks, as well as five more pangolins that are in various stages of their release programs that require regular monitoring. It is because of your contributions that we can continue to help this amazing species! Below we have shared some images of all the pangolin's that you are helping during their rehabilitation, as they continue their journey towards release.

***Please note that all pangolins are housed and treated off-site at undisclosed secure locations for the safety of them and staff***
