Bean arrived after being confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade at the end of November 2022.
He is a beautiful big male, weighing 12kg was confiscated. It is unknown exactly how long he was kept in captive; the team estimates just over a week judging by his condition. Not only had he lost weight from the lack of food and water whilst being held captive, he had been kept closed up in a bag with insufficient ventilation causing his skin to become raw from his feaces and urine. He was also unable to move within the small space, causing his muscles to become week. It was 50/50 if he would be able to pull through from his ordeal.
He spent three weeks in intesive care receiving medical treatment for his skin condition and was tube fed in order to build up his strength. He managed to pull through and has been moved to the centre to begin his rehabilitation process, going on daily feeding walks until he is strong enough to begin his release back out into the wild.
