High levels of anxiety, unstable emotional states, psychological trauma are caused by shelling and constant air alerts. This affects our Ukrainian children, especially those living in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The period between sessions is long, and our children need continuous professional support and guidance. Our team of specialists does not leave children with cochlear implants and hearing aids on their own, helping them cope with challenges, understand and manage their emotions, feel safe, and dream about the future. In these circumstances, we decided to hold additional online sessions for psychological rehabilitation: art therapy and music stimulation for 15 children with cochlear implants and hearing aids.
The psychologist taught children to use various psychological techniques: proper breathing, art therapy in personal projects, and body regulation. Music classes engaged the cerebral cortex and pleasure centers, which stimulates the recovery of the nervous system. Music and art therapy, as a tool for gentle and effective rehabilitation, helped cope with emotional stress. Singing and playing instruments allowed children to safely release fear, anger, and sadness.
Over the course of 10 days, the rehabilitation activities led to an improvement in the psychological and emotional state of 15 children from Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
