Though Cyclone Fengal has weakened, Tamil Nadu is witnessing wet weather disrupting normal life in several parts of the state. Tamil Nadu was battered with heavy rains for the last several days.

Weeks of monsoon rains in the southern Indian state of Tamilnadu have triggered landslides and floods, leaving 24 people dead and thousands stranded.

Pressure intensified on Saturday to save thousands still trapped by devastating floods that have killed more than 50 in the Indian state of Tamilnadu Tiruvannamalai District, triggering landslides and sending torrents sweeping through villages in the region’s worst inundation crisis in a century. Roads from Chennai to Vellore and Tiruvannamalai were completely flooded, and a few vehicles were washed off the roads by the flowing waters on the highway.

Landslide hits Tiruvannamalai, hours after seven people were trapped amid heavy rainfall.

Authorities warned of more torrential rain and strong winds over the weekend,

Tiruvannamalai City , popular among international tourists for its tropical hills and beaches, has been battered by record monsoon rainfall this year.

The state is “facing the worst floods in 100 years”, chief minister M.K.Stalin  said on Twitter, adding that at least 324 lives have been lost so far.

Roads are damaged, mobile phone networks are down, an international airport has been closed and more than 220,000 people have been left homeless after unusually heavy rain in the past nine days.

Casualty numbers are expected to increase further, with thousands more people still stranded. Many have died from being buried in hundreds of landslides set off by the flooding.

We would like to organize relief camps across the length and breadth of the Tiruvannamalai district and over 2000 people were screened and provided with free food , cloths  and Shelter wherever it was required to tide over this crisis,
