Dear Donor,
Last April, 2022, two typhoons hit the Philippines. CAMELEON has conducted a damage and needs assessment, especially regarding the houses of our beneficiaries and the staff.
14 houses were totally destroyed and should be rebuilt. The total costs amount Php20,000 (USD$360) per house. Besides, 5 staff members lost the majority of their house. Their families were evacuated in emergency shelters or neighbor's houses for a few days. They need to repair their homes.
Furthermore, 6 houses of our beneficiaries in Negros island had not been completely repaired yet after the violent typhoon Odette (Rai) that struck the country in December, 2021. 10 houses were partially damaged as the roofs were blown away. CAMELEON will provide the families with a financial support in order to repair and rebuilt their houses.
The renovation works will start soon.
As the rainy season has started, it is crucial to remain supportive and offer access to decent housing to all our beneficiaries and staff members.
Thank you for your precious help that allow us to proceed to the repairs.
