AWARD started its rehabilitation program with the flood-affected marginalized families of District Dadu and Khairpur. The program started with 180 families from six rural areas of District Khairpur. The families have been made resilient through disaster risk reduction training. Microgrants to encourage women to initiate businesses to get back to their lives; sessions to prevent dengue and malaria; sessions to discourage early-age marriages for girls; vocational training for young, dropout, unskilled girls; and reconstrucción or renovation of the damaged houses. The program has been initiated successfully and is in its midway stage. The communities are extremely happy and excited and have been thankful to AWARD for the program.
The construction of damaged houses, toilets, and handpumps is also under development and will be reported in the next quarter. AWARD is thankful to all the donors and supporters who have provided a great deal of support to the flood-affected communities. Also, AWARD would like to urge the donors to keep supporting the communities, as the need is enormous.
