Learning + Experience = Success!

Hello Everyone,

I'm Ronak, currently I'm pursuing my masters in social work at Central University of Rajasthan. For my 1st semester agency setting field work, I was placed in RSKS with my 2 classmates. We worked in RSKS for around 3 months. RSKS works in many different fields but we specifically worked in education.

We worked under guidance of CEO Dr Deepak Sharma & Team RSKS India. We worked in the slum areas of Ajmer City. We did a campaign for awareness for education in different slum areas and focused on teaching the children there the basic knowledge of alphabet and writing their names. At some extent we succeeded in this campaign and most of the children of these slum areas know how to write their names and have a basic understanding of alphabet.

RSKS is also working for girl education specifically for the girls who are dropped out of school. RSKS have set up PATHSHALA schools for these girls and providing them with free and quality education. In these schools they provide them not only with the quality education but with life skills education, and so much more.

As it was my first time working with a NGO , I had a great experience working with RSKS. I learned about different sectors an organisation works and also it enhanced my skills of working in field and with children. RSKS provided us with a great learning experience. It was an amazing experience working with Dr Deepak Sharma sir and the whole team of RSKS, everyone here has a good knowledge of their field and are very creative. Every one of them taught us some great things that will help us in future while working in development sector.

I thank Dr. Deepak Sharma sir for providing us with this opportunity to learn and to enhance our skills.

Biporjoy Cyclone: Humanitarian Food Relief!!

In the aftermath of the devastating Biporjoy Cyclone, slum and street families in the affected areas of Ajmer, Rajasthan faced severe disruptions to their daily lives, including the loss of homes, belongings, and livelihoods. With their already vulnerable socio-economic status, these families were suddenly left without access to basic necessities, including food. The cyclone's impact exacerbated their struggles, pushing them deeper into poverty and making it increasingly difficult for them to secure their next meals.

Recognizing the urgent need for immediate assistance, RSKS India swiftly organized a relief effort to provide crucial support to the affected families with the support of RSKS's local partners. The solution was to distribute comprehensive Ration/Grocery Kits that contained a range of essential items to ensure the well-being and food security of these families for 3-4 weeks. Each kit was thoughtfully curated, including staples such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, flour, spices, and other nutritional necessities. RSKS's team members efficiently coordinated the distribution of these kits, ensuring that every affected family received the support they needed.

The impact of RSKS India's humanitarian initiative was profound and far-reaching. By providing Ration/Grocery Kits to the 715 slum and street families affected by the Biporjoy Cyclone, RSKS not only addressed their immediate hunger crisis but also offered a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair. The kits not only alleviated the families' worries about food scarcity but also gave them the strength to rebuild their lives. The families expressed heartfelt gratitude to RSKS India's team members for their timely intervention.

Small Ground Impact: A Nomad's Story....

Meet with Menka......!!

My name is Menka (Name Change), I am 44 years old, and I live in a small slum. My life has not been easy, and I have faced many challenges. However, I consider myself lucky because I have a beautiful family who loves me unconditionally. As a mother of three children, my biggest concern was their health and well-being. Unfortunately, in our slum, we are vulnerable to various mosquito-borne diseases, such as malaria and dengue fever in the rainy season.

A few months ago, RSKS India visited our slum to distribute mosquito nets and raise awareness about the importance of protecting ourselves from mosquito bites. Initially, I was skeptical about the effectiveness of the mosquito nets. I thought that it would be just another temporary solution that would not make much of a difference. However, I decided to give it a try and took a net for my family. The mosquito nets that RSKS India provided were of excellent quality, and the instructions on how to use them were straightforward. The nets were easy to set up, and I could see that they were designed to keep mosquitoes out. I was impressed by how durable they were, and I knew that they would last for a long time. The awareness program conducted by RSKS India was eye-opening. I learned that mosquitoes are not just annoying insects; they can also transmit deadly diseases. The RSKS India team taught us how to identify the symptoms of these diseases and how to prevent them. They also explained that using mosquito nets was one of the most effective ways to protect ourselves from these diseases.

Since then, I have been using the mosquito net provided by RSKS India every night. It has become a part of our daily routine. My children are also getting used to sleeping under the net, and they find it comfortable. I feel more relaxed knowing that my family is protected from mosquito bites and the diseases they carry. I am grateful to RSKS India for their efforts in providing mosquito nets and raising awareness about the importance of protecting ourselves from mosquito-borne diseases. They have made a significant impact on our lives, and I am sure that many families in our slum have benefitted from this relief work done by RSKS India. I hope that RSKS India continues to carry out such projects and reaches out to more people in need.
