Spring 2023 Update from Paws New England

Young Zepplin
Young Zepplin

Zeppelin arrived to us from Aruba. Zeppelin came to foster with us with both of his back paws removed by a terrible human. He was sad, and it was painful to watch him try to walk - you could tell he was so uncomfortable. We purchased some boot for him and the first time he wore them, he ran across the room, paused looked at hubby and I like did I just do that?!? And then he jumped and ran in joy!!! Zeppelin hasn’t stopped running since!!! He has a zest for life and Zeppelin loves to get zippy in his new amazing forever home! Zeppelin has since been fit with temporary prosthetics and once done growing he will get permanent prosthetics. Zeppelin is happy and loved and goes on all types of adventures.

Schmiegel was found in a tiny Mississippi Delta town as a stray in an elderly man’s yard. His skin was inflamed and oozing with mange, he was infested with intestinal parasites, he was starving to death, both front legs showed the early signs of Rickets. The elderly man’s granddaughter spotted this poor baby and reached out to me. I immediately drove to the nearby town and got him, called Joanne our co-founder, and she immediately accepted him into Paws New England rescue. After lots of medical attention, food, and around the clock love, Schmiegel grew into a perfectly healthy, beautiful, happy puppy. He is now Bentley, living his best life with his new family in New England

Fiona. Found with her brother , full of mange not spayed and thought to be a bonded pair. Found to not be a bonded pair and actually exhibited litter mate syndrome. Was fostered by Corey who got her ready to go to her forever home, Adopted by a young man. His soon to be step mom is a two time paws adopter who told this young man the only place to adopt your first time dog is PAWSNE.

Jonah. When his southern foster Alex met Jonah, it was clear the type of life he lived, he was unsure shy and running you could feel every bone in his body. He should have been a 50-60 pound dog and he weighed in at 38 pounds. Jonah had some serious resource guarding and trust us human and he would cower and become defensive if anything scared him. After living with his foster and learning that life could be full of food, love and affection he was ready to be adopted to a mom and two teenage boys.
