Dear Donors,
We want to begin this update with a sincere thank you to our current donors who have supported Rescue Benue Girls from Human Trafficking. This project is still in its early stage, but your decision to stand with girls at risk means a great deal to us.
Recent reports from Benue State show why this work cannot wait.
In August 2026, an investigation into human trafficking in Benue found that traffickers are taking advantage of poverty, displacement and families searching for better opportunities for their children. Girls and young women have reportedly been recruited with promises of jobs and a better income, only to find themselves taken far from home and exposed to exploitation.
Other cases reported this year involved girls taken from Benue toward Mali and Burkina Faso after being promised work. Some escaped and returned home, while other families are still searching for their daughters.
There has also been progress. Nigerian authorities have rescued children linked to trafficking operations and reunited many with their families. These rescues give us hope, but they also show how much work remains to be done.
Our project is preparing to support this work at the community level. As more funds are raised, we plans to work with relevant authorities, community leaders and trusted partners to identify girls at risk, support lawful rescue and referral efforts, and help survivors receive food, temporary shelter, medical care, counselling and assistance returning safely to their families.
We also want to work within communities because stopping trafficking must begin before a girl disappears. Families need clear information about false job offers, suspicious travel arrangements and other methods traffickers may use to gain their trust.
We are grateful to our donors, partners, community members, volunteers and everyone working to protect children and young women from trafficking.
There is still a long way to go towards aour project goal, and every person who helps us reach more people matters.
If this appeal speaks to you, please share the project with your friends, family and colleagues. You can also become an individual fundraiser for this project and invite your own network to stand with girls at risk.
A girl searching for work, education or a better future should never have that hope used against her.
Thank you for standing with the girls of Benue.
With gratitude,
Elijah Osagie
