Exciting Rainforest Property Rescues Update

By Cesar Barbosa Garcia | Engagement Coordinator

Looking down at Lot 1

We're thrilled to share some exciting news.

Thanks to your incredible support and the support of Rainforest Rescuers worldwide, we've achieved significant milestones in our mission to protect and preserve vital rainforest ecosystems.

Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea

Thanks to you, the team and I are so excited to welcome Lot 1 Cape Tribulation Road to our portfolio of protected rainforest properties!

For thousands of years this rainforest area, and the reef it is connected to, has held cultural significance to the traditional owners of this region, the Kuku Yalanji people. Now, thanks to you, it will be part of the Rainforest Rescue Protection Portfolio.

On its conservation values alone Lot 1 is a very worthy rescue as it holds an incredible amount of biodiversity, consisting of not one, but two endangered ecosystem types. Your support ensures that this coastal rainforest will serve as a sanctuary for rare and threatened species like the Southern Cassowary and Bennett’s Tree-kangaroo.

Partners Step Up to Rescue an Ancient and Priceless Piece of Rainforest

And if that piece of good news wasn't enough, whilst we were busy fundraising for Lot 1, another property appeared on the market — Lot 17 Cape Tribulation Road. This rainforest property was priced to sell, so we needed to move quickly! That's when our Partners for Protection, The Travel Corporation (TTC) and the TreadRight Foundation, stepped up to the plate and made a very generous donation.

This partnership is a perfect example of ethical business going the extra mile to protect nature

Between TreadRight's donation, and help from our Rescue Fund—a small pot of funds, made possible thanks to Rainforest Rescuers worldwide, that we keep aside for rescues such as this—we were able to rescue Lot 17 and protect it forever.

Preserving Invaluable Biodiversity and Addressing the Climate Crisis

Both rescues contribute significantly to our conservation efforts...the exceptional biodiversity of the Daintree is unique worldwide, showcasing a richness of species that stands unparalleled on a global scale. The ongoing protection of these unprotected pockets of Daintree rainforest is vital for sustaining the array of animal and plant networks flourishing within this ecosystem.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you and our partners for making these rescues possible. Together, we are Protecting Rainforests Forever.

Thank you for being a crucial part of our journey towards a sustainable future.

For the rainforests!
