Charvi's childhood was a far cry from the innocent memories many of us hold dear. At just five years old, she had already seen and experienced more darkness than most of us encounter in a lifetime.
Growing up in the red-light districts of India with a mother who was forced to work there and an abusive alcoholic for a father, Charvi's world was one of heartache and fear. As her mother tried to provide for her family, Charvi was often tied up at night, to keep Charvi from wandering off.
Knowing what Charvi's future would hold if she stayed in the red-light district, Charvi's mother brought her to live at our safe house.
Because of this selfless decision, Charvi has thrived in a loving and nurturing environment. She has worked hard at her schooling, learned how to cook and take care of herself.
Growing up in the red-light districts is a harsh reality for many children, but Charvi and children like her are able to find hope and a better future thanks to your generosity and funding. With your help, children are escaping environments that would easily perpetuated the vicious cycle of abuse and trauma.
Charvi is blossoming into a young woman with great potential. Today, she is pursuing her dreams of becoming a physical therapist, filled with a sense of gratitude towards you and all those who helped her achieve a brighter future.
She recognizes that her life could have easily gone down a very different path had it not been for you, and she cherishes the safety and security provided to her during such a crucial time in her life.
The world needs more people like you - those who are willing to invest in the lives of others.
