Project Report | Jul 26, 2021
Together we can do so much

By Cathy King | Executive Director

Our Executive Director recently attended the "Association of Service Dog providers for Military Veterans."  Continuing education opportunities like this conference ensure we are up to date on service dog training and best practices for helping veterans. Our team will be discussing and seeking ways to implement what we have gathered from the conference.

Our teams have been able to safely move forward with in person training. The final component of the training includes visiting places that the veteran visits in their day to day life. Our trainers are there to walk the client through the process of having a service dog with them in public. We are excitedly expecting some of our advanced teams to graduate soon. If you would like to see pictures of our graduating teams be sure to follow us on social media.

Trainers are a consistent component of veteran's life; veterans feel connected and safe around them. We recognize that oftentimes, we are one of their primary source of socializing outside of their families. In June we hosted an event for veterans and their families to not only spend time with our staff and volunteers but also to meet other veterans who are at different levels of training. We look forward to hosting more events for our clients

As always, our work is possible due to kind people like you. We are able to make an impact on the lives of our clients due to generous donations. We want you to take part in the pride and joy we feel as we see our veterans slowly progress to a state of Post Traumatic Growth.

Sincerely,

Cathy King
