We're halfway through the year, and we're excited to share that CWAC has undergone some transformative updates, enhancing our ability to serve our community.
Thanks to the Wounded Warrior Service Dog Program grant, board member Justyn Manley, LCSW, is now able to provide expert mental health support tailored to our clients' needs. Her dedication and expertise have been invaluable to our organization. Speaking of invaluable, canine trainer Harleigh has earned the prestigious CCPDT-KA certification, demonstrating her knowledge and understanding of dog training principles. This achievement is a testament to her hard work and commitment to our mission. Additionally, we've become an AKC Fit Dog Club, promoting exercise, training, and fun activities with dogs to prioritize their physical and mental well-being. This new initiative will further enhance our programs and services for veterans and their canine companions.
On a fun note, CWAC operations manager Chloe and canine trainer Harleigh were guests on the Tanner's Impact podcast. The podcast which is SLC-based highlights experiences of not-for-profit organizations that are having a significant impact in our communities. The episode, which was released today, offers a first-person narrative about what it's like to work with veterans and the positive changes they see almost immediately. You can listen by clicking on the link included in this report or by searching Tanner's Impact Canines With a Cause on Apple or Spotify.
On the veteran program side of things, we've launched 3 new teams and celebrated 5 teams achieving various CGC (Canine Good Citizen) levels. However, recently, CWAC program veteran James faced life-altering challenges when his son was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. At the same time, his dog Kylo got into something he shouldn’t have, resulting in emergency veterinary care. Thanks to your support, CWAC was able to cover Kylo's medical bills, providing relief during a chaotic time and ensuring the dog's well-being. This is just one example of how your donations make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
Overall, we're hopeful these new changes to our organization will make a tangible impact. We're grateful for your partnership and look forward to continuing to serve our veterans and community together. Cheers!
