Veterans Day-Don't Forget our Vets!

By Cathy King | Executive Director

Dear Friends,

As Veterans Day approaches, I have reflected back over the past few years, thinking of what your donations have meant to Canines With a Cause.

Because of donors like you, we were able to rescue, train and place shelter dogs with deserving veterans.

Your donation saved a dog from a likely death sentence.

Your donation has given a prison inmate the opportunity to give back to their community in a positive way.

Your donation has made the life of a veteran with PTSD a life worth living.

One in four military veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other combat zones suffer from PTSD, depression, or anxiety. Soldiers return home with feelings of abandonment and often have a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. The adjustment can include depression, substance abuse—and in the worse cases—violence and suicide.

As Veteran’s Day approaches, you may ask yourself:
• How can I make a difference?
• How can I thank a veteran?
• How can I support someone who is a true American Hero?

Please take a few minutes to re-visit this beautiful multi-media presentation of our Veterans, their faithful, furry companions and the incarcerated women who train them.  The photos and videos speak to the bond they share and the unconditional love that saves them all.

Canines With a Cause is completely funded by generous donors like you. We do not receive a penny from the government. The cost to put a rescued dog with a veteran is approximately $5,000 per dog – this includes training, boarding, food, supplies, vaccinations, etc.

Your continued support helps save lives – 3 lives!

Our goal is to put a service dog with every veteran that needs one. But we can’t do it alone. Let’s show these veterans our appreciation for their sacrifice.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Cathy King
