Rescuing Imperiled Wildlife in South Africa

Dear donors,

Phalaborwa Natural Heritage Foundation (PNHF) would like to share the following successes achieved since the GlobalGiving Accelerator program in September 2021;

1. We've conducted 7 anti-poaching Operations.
2. Patrolled over 50km on foot.
3. Removed 120 illegally set poacher's snares.
4. Discovered 6 poaching camps.
5. 3 suspected poachers were apprehended after intelligence gathered during a snare sweep.
6. Discovered 5 animals illegally killed in snares, 3 blue wildebeest and 2 cape buffalo.
7. Taken 127 local community members out on anti-poaching operations.
8. Successfully rescued 4 animals, an elephant calf with a snare around his back leg, a hippopotamus cow and her baby, the mother had a snare around her mouth and a southern african python that was attacked by a person, she needed extensive surgical intervention.
9. Did environmental education and spreading awareness by giving talks at local schools and associations.
10. PNHF Directors received new camo anti-poaching uniforms.
11. PNHF Directors received First Aid Training.

The above mentioned data and statistics gathered during the past three months has contributed to the conservation of our local biodoversity in the nature reserves, parks, tribal game reserves and neighbouring communities where we conducted operations.

We would like to thank each and every donor for making this possible. PNHF is planning on doing many more anti-poaching operations during the next three months and we are busy getting everything in place to rescue and relocate a bull hippopotamus.
