Promoting Young Talent: Investing in the Future

By Alexandra Uster | Project Leader

Together, we are creating hope.
Together, we are creating hope.

Cancer presents one of the greatest challenges of our time. Every year, around 20 million people worldwide are diagnosed with the disease. The need for innovative solutions to combat this disease has never been more urgent.

Young cancer researchers play a pivotal role in this fight against cancer. With their fresh ideas and unwavering dedication to science, they are constantly finding new ways to better understand cancer, treat it more efficiently, and ultimately defeat it.

Financial support is of fundamental importance to enable these promising young scientists to establish themselves in cancer research. Thanks to grants and funding, researchers can advance their projects with targeted precision and without financial constraints. In 2023, the Swiss Cancer Research foundation invested approximately CHF 13.5 million in promising research endeavors. However, despite our efforts, numerous outstanding research projects could not be supported last year due to insufficient funds.

Therefore, we are all the more grateful to be able to present five of the 43 supported projects in our annual report. None of this would be possible without your support. Thus, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your loyalty over the past year and look forward to continuing on this path together with you and the countless highly motivated researchers!

Together, we are creating hope for thousands of people.

Yours sincerely,

Swiss Cancer Research foundation
