Dear friends,
Even though our pilot project in Bukit Batu has ended, it was important to present our findings of the data and feedback collected from the 10 pilot farmers. By the end of the project, a manual was produced which will remain available and usable for all farmers in the area as it is practical, simple to follow, and has links to tutorial videos for easier understanding of best practices.
Tailored to local conditions, this guide includes tips on improving soil health, preparing for planting, managing pests, and caring for crops in an eco-friendly way.
The manual comes with QR codes that link to short, easy-to-follow videos do farmers can watch and learn as they go. The videos are available to everyone on YUM's YouTube channel (see link below).
The next phase for our project will be to train 200 more farmers in Bukit Batu. Out of the 10 pilot farmers, four of these have welcomed the task of becoming ambassadors of the agroforestry model, and are open to supporting future training sessions.
A generous donor will be supporting us on this next part of our journey, however we need to contribute 20% to the project funding. We would be grateful if you could assist us and be part of the change in Bukit Batu!
With all my appreciation,
Vanessa
