As we approach the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, the challenges faced by displaced families remain immense. For Ukrainian refugee children, the upheaval of war has disrupted not only their homes but also their education and sense of stability. Our Resiliency Gardens program in Poland, now in its third year, offers a space for learning, healing, and connection through gardening. This year, we are working with 10 schools to provide hands-on environmental education, promote healthy eating, and foster a sense of community among both local and refugee students.
First Workshop Success
Our first Resiliency Gardens Workshops engaged children and youth across multiple schools, sparking curiosity about nature while encouraging teamwork and sustainability. Thanks to the dedication of Fundacja NATURAlnego Rozwoju and the City of Rybnik, students—including Ukrainian refugees and children with special needs—are gaining hands-on gardening experience while building valuable life skills.
This first workshop is just the beginning. All 10 participating schools will take part in ongoing programming throughout the year, engaging students in hands-on, nature-based learning and connection. Through seasonal activities, gardening projects, and interactive lessons, students will continue to explore the natural world while developing a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship and healthy living.

Your Support Makes This Possible
With the support of Seed Programs International, the City of Rybnik, and individual donors, this program continues to provide environmental education and sustainable gardening skills to children who may not otherwise have this opportunity. These school gardens are more than just a place to grow food—they are spaces for learning, resilience, and rebuilding a sense of normalcy for displaced students.
As the year unfolds, students will take an active role in tending their gardens, watching the seasons change, and seeing the results of their efforts. Thank you for supporting this work and helping plant the seeds of resilience and hope.
