Dear beloved friends,
Uganda has reached an important public health milestone by officially ending its latest Ebola outbreak.
The country recorded 20 confirmed cases, and after sustained surveillance and the completion of the required 42-day monitoring period, no additional infections were detected.
Uganda's experience demonstrates the importance of rapid action, strong surveillance, community cooperation, and effective coordination among response partners.
At the same time, the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to experience a serious Ebola emergency, with confirmed infections now exceeding 3,000.
The scale of the outbreak means that regional preparedness cannot end with Uganda's success.
GAHOK is committed to helping ensure that communities along Uganda's border remain informed, vigilant, and prepared. Our continued activities include community awareness, strengthening local reporting networks, supporting Village Health Teams, promoting infection prevention practices, and maintaining relationships with health facilities and local authorities.
