*INTRODUCTION*
- Ebola remains a serious health threat
- GABA HOPE FOR KIDS is ensuring families have correct information
- Goal is to prevent infection, reduce fear, and protect lives
*GOAL AND OBJECTIVES*
Goal: Increase community knowledge and preparedness on Ebola prevention and response
- Provide accurate information on Ebola signs, symptoms, and prevention
- Promote safe hygiene practices in homes, schools, and communities
- Train community volunteers and leaders as Ebola awareness champions
- Reduce stigma and misinformation around Ebola
*ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED*
- Community sensitization meetings in villages and schools
- Door-to-door health education by trained volunteers
- Distribution of IEC materials on Ebola prevention
- Demonstrations on handwashing and safe hygiene practices
- Radio talk shows and community announcements
- Engagement of local leaders, teachers, and health workers
*OBSERVATIONS AND IMPACT*
- More community members can identify Ebola symptoms early
- Increased use of handwashing facilities in homes and schools
- Reduced fear and stigma through correct information
- Community leaders are actively spreading Ebola messages
- Families report being more prepared to respond safely
- Story of Impact: "Before the training we were afraid and didn’t know what to do. Now we know how to wash hands, avoid contact, and where to report." – Community Member
*CHALLENGES*
- Limited IEC materials and supplies for all communities
- Need for transport to reach remote areas
- Persistent rumors and misinformation
*RECOMMENDATIONS*
- Expand community education to more villages
- Provide more handwashing stations and hygiene supplies
- Strengthen partnerships with health centers and local government
- Train more community volunteers for ongoing awareness
*CONCLUSION*
- Education saves lives
- By educating more communities, we are building a safer and better prepared Central Uganda
