Children celebrating Independance Day

it has been an interesting start working and engaging with children from the communities after Covid. Listening to the challenges the families in the communities faced and how they coped with life when everything looked bleak with some bread winners having lost their job. We from Maitri supported them by giving them rations and engaging with children on the phone and working on their maths and languages.

With resources and funds low, yet high on commitment and enthusiasm we started functioning with limited students for educational classes. Children who could not join the academic classes, we initiated extra curricular activities for them including sports and cultural events.

We revived our networks with main stream schools to ensure participation in inter school sports meet with them and our community children. It had always served as a motivation for them to do as best as they could to compete with a healthy spirit and not to feel defeated if they lost in a individual event like 100 meter race. Spirit of competition motivates them to work hard and do well in academics and other walks of life.

Cultural activities, organising and participating is their passion. They are extremely talented and like to organise events with Maitri support all celebratory days like Independance Day or festivals like Diwali. Maitri encourages them to take initiative and supports them in their organisation of the events, as well as building character.

During Covid, unfortunately, the furniture of the school was destroyed due to weather conditions and termites since the centre was not opened for cleaning and maintenance. Presently the school is functiong on mats.

We would like to wish our  Maitri friends, well wishers and donors Seasons Greetings and a joyous New Year 2024. We greatly appreciate your support, for your heart brings joy in their lives and makes their future. Thank you. Bless you.
