Spring Report - 2018

By THEOPHILUS O KOLLIE | Director

Providing Medical Eyecare

HWHL is pleased to share with you all the things we are thankful for this spring:

Goals for 2018 include adding a vaccinator, administrator, 12 health volunteers, 2 nurses aids, and ambulance driver to our staff.  We also plan to complete our lab and hope to set up our dental clinic.

In April, HWHL completed our lab and began to provide lab services to our patients.  We treated 324 patients at the clinic in April.  The most frequent conditions found were anemia, acute respiratory infections, and malaria.  Doug Nelson, our solar engineer, travelled to Liberia in April and performed much needed maintenance on the solar system, including developing a maintenance plan with a local provider, ensuring uninterrupted supply of power to the clinic. HWHL voted and approved Dr Theophilus Kollie, founding board member, return on the board.

In May, 483 patients were treated at the clinic.  Our lab continues to be useful and critical to providing adequate medical care to our patients.

In June, HWHL treated 244 patients at the clinic. We received new equipment for our lab from BK Pharmacy in Monrovia.  We started planning for our Annual Board Member Retreat, which will be held in October in Texas.  We also shipped various light fixtures and bulbs for our solar system from Philadelphia to Liberia in June.

We have so much to be thankful for at HWHL!  As always, we thank you for your continued financial support and prayers as we continue to focus on our mission of HWHL to promote the health of the people and educate patients through Comprehensive, Sustainable, Community-Based Primary Healthcare.
