Good news! Our Community Health Workers serve residents in 37 communities surrounding HWHL's home base in Kakata Liberia. Until recently our CHWs have been sequestered at the clinic due to COVID-19. We're thrilled that as of August they are finally back serving their communities complete with appropriate PPE. See photo of the CHWs interacting with residents of the outlying villages.
Our new Dental Suite opened for patients in September, A dentist is currently on site 3 days a week. Basic dental care saves lives in this, the only dental facility in Margibi County.
We wanted to share this heartwarming story of God at work. In June a team of people came together in Pennsylvania to pack over 300 boxes of medical supplies, exam tables, Geri chairs, crutches, canes, wheelchairs and more for HWHL. Those supplies have arrived safely in Liberia and are being distributed by our Community Health Workers in the Margibi County villages we serve. We just received these pictures of a remarkable man who was the recipient of one of the wheelchairs. As you can see, he does not have use of his legs and propels himself using flip-flops on his hands. Here he is receiving his wheelchair. That smile says it all. God is so good! What an honor it is to be a small part of this ministry changing lives in Liberia.
Your ongoing donations through GlobalGiving allow us to continue and expand our medical services to the people of Margibi County LIberia.
