New Addition Nears Completion

New Maternity/Surgical Addition

When HWHL's new maternity/surgical addition opens in 2023, we will be offering much more than primary health care so the facility will be renamed Waterfield Medical Center to reflect the additional services offered. The final construction is wrapping up with the painting of the addition and we'll be furnishing the building soon with medical equipment.

In December volunteers traveled from Tennessee and Pennsylvania to join the construction team and HWHL staff to assist with the finish work on the maternity/surgical addition.

Neighborhood Children Served at Annual New Year's Event

On January 2nd 1,050 children gathered outside Dr. Chris Hena's home to be fed and receive gifts of shoes, clothing and books. What an overwhelming blessing for the children being welcomed as well as those serving.

Mobility Carts Assembled

HWHL's Community Health Workers visit 33 villages in Margibi County where a number of residents are challenged by a lack of mobility. Mobility Worldwide has designed hand-cranked mobility carts that allow physically challenged people to go where ordinary wheelchairs won't go. They have begun to supply cart kits to HWHL for assembly and distribution. The first of these carts were assembled at Waterfield and tested by Waterfield staff members earlier this month. Madam Sirleaf, Former Liberian President Visits Waterfield

Former Liberian President Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf visited HWHL Community Health Workers at Waterfield. She may be 84, but she's still going strong making a difference for women in Africa and around the world. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development
