Restore Hearing to 100 Children in Panama

The Oir es Vivir Foundation continues walking firm to protect children’s hearing in Panama!

We managed to visit some non-profit organizations, such as the ProEd foundation, which is dedicated to reading teaching and academic reinforcement for children with limited resources (mainly from the areas of Santa Ana, El Chorrillo and San Felipe).

This time we had the opportunity to get closer to their parents and make them more aware of caring for their hearing and their children. We also take the opportunity to perform hearing tests on 50 children who have benefited from this foundation, and follow-up will be given to those who have not passed.

This collaboration with our sister foundation was very productive because we also gave to their team new tools to support them in the early detection of hearing loss in children they take care.

Working for the hearing of Panamanian children is a complex and multidimensional task, which requires not only voluntary hands and many resources, but the promotion of a culture on an invisible and often ignored issue, at all ages.

For this reason, we share with a lot of joy that one more year we managed to raise awareness about the importance of hearing care thanks to the development of the Just 1 minute (#Solo1Minuto) of Silence Campaign where companies, universities, schools, government institutions, family and friends joined us in this initiative where everyone took a minute of silence to raise awareness of the need for a world with less noise and more hearing health.

In a very special way, our sisters foundations: Rafael Meza Ayau Foundation and FUSNINPE from El Salvador, also joined at this important moment.

This is how we made another step towards a society more aware of hearing problems, and of the attention that must be given so, from children to adults, can preserve in the best way this precious gift.
