PETAI Lays Foundations for Restoration Success!

By Selene Parr | Development Assistant

Just like the resilient orangutans who depend on strong forest canopies for their survival, your support helps fuel our long-term conservation work with our frontline conservation partners.

As part of the Leuser National Park Authority’s 1,000-hectare Ecosystem Recovery Plan, our frontline partner PETAI will rewild 150 hectares of degraded land.

PETAI have made significant strides in rewilding the Tenggulun Forest Block. Establishing essential infrastructure, staff, and research needed for rewilding success in this vital area of the Gunung Leuser National Park.

This year, our partners have already:

  • Restoration and Planting - Produced 50,000 seedlings, achieving over half of the initial 90,000 seedling target.
  • Operations - Completed restoration facilities at Tenggulun, providing crucial infrastructure and a foundation for planting activities.
  • Capacity Building - Pioneered several workshops that boost the technical and practical skills of both the field team and the local community.

None of this work would be possible without you - our dedicated and compassionate supporters. Together, we can make a difference for wild orangutans and the rainforests they call home.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
