Welcome to the third report of our project.
We thank you for your continued support for our project to Restore sight to 200 villagers in South Eastern Nigeria, whichprovides much needed general and specialist eye care services.
We have not been able to undertake outreach eye care because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has also impacted on our partner hospitals ability to accommodate charity work. We have started to plan for some eye screening sessions and cataract operations before the end of year. We look forward to sharing the progress in future reports.
We are arranging to start a medication maintenance programme, working with local health centres. The aim is to enable the poorest individuals to receive regular supplies of medications for mainly high blood pressure and diabetes, to help them maintain some level of control of these conditions.
The pandemic continues to affect disproportionally poor communities. So we have provided more small interest free loans (the other objective of our Foundation) to households who rely on daily incomes from petty trading or sell of goods from subsistence farming to feed their families, and people in low paid workers who have lost their jobs.
Thank you so much for your continued support. Please stay safe and keep well!
