The purpose of this project is to restore and preserve the physical structures of CEPROSH, including the historic Casa Familia Menard, a Victorian-style architectural gem from the early 20th century, and the building used for Comprehensive Care Services. Both structures have deteriorated due to age, humidity, salt air, and weather conditions. This intervention will preserve cultural heritage and ensure safe, dignified spaces for over 2,000 beneficiaries and staff.
Both structures show progressive deterioration due to age (Casa Familia Menard with over 123 years and 22 years since last restoration, and over 20 years of use of the service building), constant exposure to salt air, humidity, rainfall, weather events, and limited maintenance resources. If not addressed, these conditions may worsen, increasing structural risks and compromising the safety and sustainability of spaces providing essential services.
The project will address structural deterioration by restoring Casa Familia Menard and the Comprehensive Care Services building, repairing damaged areas, reducing the impact of humidity, salt air, and weather conditions, and improving structural safety and functionality.
The project will have a long-term impact by ensuring the preservation of CEPROSH's historic heritage and the sustainability of its essential services. It will improve the safety and functionality of its facilities, reduce structural risks, and guarantee dignified spaces for the care of more than 2,000 people. It will also strengthen institutional continuity, service quality, and the protection of an important cultural asset in Puerto Plata.
