Nurturing talents for holistic growth.

By Eric Gaka | Fundraising & Communications Manager

Talent nurturing and development play a key role in the holistic growth of a child. Talents in children are easily identified when they are encouraged to explore different dimensions of their lives including hobbies and out-of-class activities.

At Turning Point's Fountain of Hope Primary School, many children have benefitted by excelling in their talents such as sports while still focusing on their education. Prudence, Zakir, and Janet are among 80 students at Fountain of Hope School whose football talents were nurtured last year through Turning Point Football Club (TPFC). They were also among the class of 2023 that sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) national examination.

After the examination, the students were scouted and awarded scholarships to join different secondary schools within Kenya. They attribute the scholarship opportunity and success in football to the mentorship and coaching they got through the TPFC.

During the first academic term of 2023, our children participated in the annual athletics championships for primary schools in the country. We are glad that one of our students, a 12-year-old Talia, managed to excel in the competition and represented Nairobi County during the competitions at the national level.

As an organisation, these are little milestones that we celebrate as we match towards achieving our goal of helping vulnerable children in Kibera achieve their full potential. We believe every child has a God-given potential that needs to be sparked and nurtured at an early age.
